would you believe Death on the Installment plan is even better? Ferdinand is the original Larry David. Human absurdity taken to its darkest comedic extremes. He was one of the founding fathers of dark/black comedy. Even Vonnegut, the dark prince of bleak comedy, claims "without Celine there would be no Vonnegut"
Soak it in tho, Journey takes you through his adult life... the next one, Installment Plan, kinda like a prequel -- still features poor poor Ferdinand but deals with childhood and growing up,
