Fairly good murder mystery. Coroner is one of the central characters, resulting in grisly descriptions of victims. Killer is revealed on p. 340, and is only a mild surprise. Other potential perps are not sufficiently described to make them viable suspects. One glaring discrepancy is left dangling. Lady coroner describes the victims to the killer, and he agrees he did this one and that one, but vehemently denies doing the other one. This makes the reader think someone else came along and finished the Jack the Ripper activities. But this is never followed up. The reader must imagine that the killer is fooling himself in thinking his activities are not that painful for the victim. Still, I give it a 6, which may have been higher if that point had been well handled.
