Megan's review of The Field Guide
The Field Guide (The Spiderwick Chronicles, Book 1) by Holly Black
** spoiler alert **
I wanted to check this book out, not only for our librarian's reading challenge but because the movie is about to come out as well. It read very quickly (which I guess could be expected since this book was written for 6-11 year olds), and I found the illustrations very cute. It was pretty predictable however; the whole family-moving-to-get-a-new-start-and-the-kids-find-out-about-faeries thing. Totally saw it coming. What is it with small children being moved into creepy run-down houses? Didn't this already happen in the Chronicles of Narnia and Lemony Snickett?
