Lady Sophia's Lover (Bow Street Runners, #2)

I enjoyed this second book in the Bow Street Runners series. So far I haven't read a book by Kleypas that I didn't like, but I struggled a bit with the heroine, Sophia. It didn't help that the story begins with Sophia's cockamamie revenge plot to punish Sir Ross Cannon of the Bow Street Runners for her brother's death. I don't care for revenge plots and this one didn't really hang together. It had been years since her brother died, but she now is burning for revenge? She is all sweetness and light with everyone around her so her dark designs seemed incongruous at times. In fact, I didn't find several of her actions very logical or understandable, especially her inability to trust Ross once they fall in love with each other. He was pretty much a paragon of a man. Yes, gruff, bossy, stubborn but incredibly accepting of one bombshell after another about Sophia's past, protective and extremely passionate in his love. As a hero, Ross certainly made up for Sophia's deficencies as a heroine. And Kleypas, as always, writes an emotional and satisfying love story.
