Pam's review of The Pillars of the Earth
The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
I normally steer clear of Oprah endorsements, but I am fascinated by the medieval - - not enough to participate in a RenFair, and apparently not enough to plow through this doorstop of 973 pages of teensy font and a writing style that is very matter of fact/newspaper article boring. It's just hard to stick with a book I'm not enjoying when I know there are so many gems sitting in my "to read" pile. Still, shame on me for being so noncommittal.
