Alex Rider goes to the criminal organization Scorpia to find out about his father and to decide who he wants to be.

I really should deduct one star for the last scene. I mean that puts the author, Anthony Horowitz, into the utterly mean and evil author class. No one should have to wait 2 years for the next book after a last scene like that. Really though, I enjoyed this one a lot. It is good to see Alex get a little more settled into who he is and who he is not. Great conclusion to the plot with the balloon thing. Some parts not entirely believable, e.g. where the balloon platform lands, but I'll forgive that. about the only thing that could make these more enjoyable for me would be for Alex to delight in being a spy. I love characters who delight in what they do.

Favorite bits: Loved the birdseed scene right at the beginning.
