After a bunch of not-that engaging narrators, Blood Lily bounces back with the point of view of one of the more unpleasant characters from the last book. Of course she came across as unpleasant from the POV of the last (wussy) heroine... but in her own head, she's AWESOME. She's a sarcastic badass with a 'slut complex' that any female in the modern day can recognize -- we ALL know someone like Penelope, who gets unsavory male attention and runs with it since, hey, attention! And by nature she brings some of the steaminess back to a series that dropped off the 'romance' novel fixings about four books ago.

If going off to India is what it takes to pump new life into a long, fun, series, no complaints here. Even the frame-story narrator is on my good side, at least for now.
