Alcatraz Island, a tightly controlled prison for criminals with life sentences, like Al Capone, is the setting for this humorous and suspenseful story. Twelve year old Moose is forced to make new friends after his family must move there. But what an odd group of people, and kids are there! An arrogant, teasing, mischievious warden's daughter in Moose's class causes him all kinds of dilemmas as well as the added stress from his autistic sister and emotionally deistraught mother.

Prisoners, schools, family problems, friendship, baseball, and alundry all tie together to make this story so intriguing, you don't want to put it down. A runner-up for the best novel of the year. Your heart will break for Moose and the unbelievable curcumstances he finds himself in.
