This book did hold my attention til the end. I wanted to find out what happened to the characters, as if I had some investment in them. I think that's a good sign in a book. However, I think the author tried to do too shove too many stories into one book. When I read the author's note in the end, I realized that it was because she was peppering the book with bits of her own history. They just didn't feel organic to the story.
