The Lunatic Cafe (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #4)

Ack! So predictable! Even the twists were predictable! Except maybe the last one, though I thought it was something like that. And jeez, let the girl sleep for once!
Aside from knowing most of the plot in the first few chapters, I am enjoying the Anita Blake series. I just wish that either the protagonists would recognize things earlier and actually THINK about things for a moment before rushing headlong into danger for once. I suppose a big part of that is the eternally sleep-deprived state Anita is living in, but come on! I could also be looking for a book that is a level or two higher intellectually than these are. Still enjoyable, quick reads, I do love the character of Anita Blake (even if I wonder why she's Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter at this point), and I will continue to read books in this series.
She is getting really dark. I am waiting for them to tie in her religion with her reliance on weapons and shooting first. There was a spark of that here, but I'm wondering if Richard can deal with it or if she'll have a crisis of faith or something. The last couple chapters nearly brought it to a 4-star, but the few times when it felt like I'd skipped chapters or like something was left out and the predictability of a good bunch of the book keeps it down at three.
