The Last Olympian is the perfect ending to the enjoyable Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Not only does it wrap up the series nicely, it entices you to return to Riordan's other worlds he has created with the Kane Chronicles and the Heroes of Olympus series.

If you enjoy Greek Mythology, this series is definitely worth a read. And while it will most definitely scratch that Harry Potter itch, Riordan doesn't escape your local bookstore's children section as well as Rowling did with her boy wizard series.

Riordan resorts to humor in an attempt to keep things light in what is a considerably dark book. This is, after all, a war for control of Mount Olympus. Riordan doles out a considerable amount of death and destruction from beginning to end.

It is difficult to imagine a more satisfying end to the series.
