Heather's review of Undead and Unworthy
Undead and Unworthy (Undead Series, Book 7) by MaryJanice Davidson
** spoiler alert **
I love the Queen Betsy books as well as MaryJanice Davidson's other books. I found that this one had to same humor in it. But I would really probably give it 3 1/2 stars. Better than average, but not as good as the others.
It was the beginning of a new arc, as expressed by the new cover art. People have had significant problems with the new cover art and many actually said they wouldn't get it or would import the British version so they would not have this cover on their shelf. While I don't think it is the greatest cover and it doesn't really represent Betsy to me, I think that's crazy. It's a picture- not picked by the author- and doesn't represent what's inside. Inside, it's the same lightweight book it's always been.
What did bother me about the book was Nick. He was constantly bitching and moaning and being nasty. I get that Betsy felt bad about what she did to him in the first book, but she took a good bit of verbal abuse from him without reacting. I found the lack of anger at ...more

I definitely agree with you about Nick. I was ready to see a change in his attitude and I guess I kept expecting the same movie ending as Betsy in that he would finally appreciate her attempts to at retribution for what had previously happened to him. While I didn't wish death upon him, he was so annoying that I was seriously wanting to tell him (in a favorite phrase of Betsy's) to "shut the f*** up!!" and was hoping that his role in the storyline would diminish. Unfortunately, he became a major player in this book. I, too, hope that we see less of him in the next book or that he at least relaxes a bit. I'm also unsure as to whether or not I'm going to enjoy having the Ant back in the storyline. There were some brilliant reactions to her by both Betsy and Jessica but the Ant was never a favorite of mine alive so I'm a bit apathetic about her returning in death. While I, too, enjoy Marc's character and feel that the book was missing something without him, I would have liked the story to include more of Laura. I enjoy the dichotomy of her character and feel that she, like Marc, adds unique humor to the series.
