Jessica's review of The Thin Place
The Thin Place by Kathryn Davis
Absolutely breathtaking. It's hard to provide any kind of a plot summary; the book is about a town, and all the living things in it. The perspective shifts from one person to another, to a local dog, to a beaver in the lake, to incidents in the past. The prose is so beautiful you just get sucked in, in spite of the fact that after you finish it you'd be hard-pressed to provide a distinct plot summary. It's more like vignettes about all the intertwined lives in the town, though I think some of the most engrossing are the recurring stories about three young best friends on the brink of growing up and growing apart. Highly, highly recommended. I'd give it six stars out of five if I could.
