This is my favorite book of all times. I re-read it almost every year, usually in the fall. There's something about the trip the character takes from a busy-busy lifestyle to a quieter, simpler life that appeals to me (and probably appeals to many). Fannie Flagg has a way of bringing a character to life like no one else I've read. I like the surprise of this book, and where it goes. It's more complex than some of her others, though I love those too.

Nophoto-f-25x33 I just checked out your list, and see you have two others I've read, "Time Traveler's Wife" and "Lovely Bones". I had a hard time with that last one. Possibly due in part to having a teenage daughter msyelf, makes it harder to read stories like that. FYI - I'm new to using this site and haven't added much yet. But check back another day. Such a cool idea.

Nophoto-f-25x33 I am new to this site as well! As of today! At the time I read "Lovely Bones" my daughter was a teenager as well. I think you summed up my feelings about it as well!

Nophoto-f-25x33 Good to meet you Cheryl! How did you find the site? I just joined a local book club, and one of the members invited me to this site.

Nophoto-f-25x33 A friend of mine sent the invitation to me. I am a teacher and I had one of her students in my class. I guess she remembered that I am a reader, lucky for me!

Nophoto-f-25x33 I work with a former English teacher and she is great at recommending books. One I plan to read (and the author is coming to town) is "Three Cups of Tea". Have you read that?

Nophoto-f-25x33 No, I haven't . . I know it is highly thought of. My next read is to be On Agate Hill by Lee Smith. I have read almost all of hers. She is tremendous.
