I was looking foward to reading this book, but I have to confess it was a bit of a disappointment. I was hoping for another post-apocalyptic teenage-survivor novel after finishing John Marsden's Tomorrow series, but Daisy is no Ellie. The writing style in the book is atrocious (it's meant to sound like you're listening to Daisy talking out loud - lots of sentence fragments and run-ons) and, while I got used to that eventually, I had a hard time swallowing the telepathic bond among the family members, and found the "years passed, and now let's join our characters again" ending weak. It's not a BAD book, really, but compared to the other YA I was reading around this time, it just doesn't hold up. At all.

菁华 "Daisy is no Ellie" -- Yes! I mean, the plot is rather different, but I think that must be what was passing through my subconscious during the bits where Daisy was escaping with Piper. I felt like this book was for a younger audience, but then because it was so loaded with Issues you wouldn't want someone too young to read it either. An awkward one, I think.
