I found this to be a powerful history of the bestialities of the Soviet system - many forget that they not only predated the Nazi Concentration camps but lived on until the fall of the Soviet block (though who knows what's really going on there). Anne Applebaum is a fine historian and writes in a very approachable manner. This is a must-read for anyone interested in the truth.
