really liked it
Read in March, 2010 , read count: 2

In 1752, a 17-year-old Sussex farmgirl unburdens her struggling family from her involuntary pregnancy by fleeing to London, a place she would not be known. There, good chance apprentices her to a brooding maker of fireworks, and her life finds a vital passage in opportunity and fate.

A very good historical, richly descriptive, with some kinship with Jane Eyre, and a pleasure to read and reread.
