This intense page turner certainly deserves the Printz award this year. I found I needed to read it well before bedtime or sleep would not come. Set in a realistic drowned future, the novel concerns kids who demolish ships for scrap. A tv show recently featured such work being done in Asia, so it was easy for me to picture the huge ships on a beach. Chase scenes, a beautiful girl in need of rescue, and an intelligent young hero make this a winner. I could ignore the stilted dialog and zipped through the scary story.
