This story of a teenage girl in a small village in Afghanistan was slow in the beginning - but halfway through the book, it became more and more riveting.

The author did an amazing job portraying the cultural differences and how the Americans seemed to the villagers. And I loved the ending. I just worry that teenagers will give up on this after a couple of chapters (before the story really picks up).
