It's bothering me that this particular edition has an incorrect author. But I'm no librarian, so I'll live with it.
With all of JacqueS's books, there's a lot of description and strong characters. Description was a little overdone in terms of bulking paragraphs of food details, which made focussing difficult. I feel like all that detail was unnecessary in those specific parts--I don't feel the need to read about the Nameday feast for two pages, where all I'm getting is food recipes. As per usual, Jacques's animal characters were fun and loveable. I'm a little disappointed that there are no "vermin" (weasels, ferrets, rats, stoats) in his books that are a protagonist--the closest it's been has been Taggerung, to my knowledge. I would have liked to see some unpredicable actions on the rodents' side.
I finished the book 1/27, read in two days. Overall: thumbs up. :)
