This was a captivating, quick read. The movie Field of Dreams was based on this book. Much to my shock, the author in the book is J. D. Salinger (why did he not sue?) but everything else was very similar (to my recollection). The whole book is about dreams and fantasties and following one's impulses whether they seem to make sense or not. It's about not letting the mundacity of everyday life make you forget what you want. There's a great quote inhere: "success is getting what you want. Happiness is wanting what you get." That said, it was a bit over the top for me. I think I'm just too practical a person for this novel with this message. It is certainly well-written and was a good escape, but I just couldn't ever buy into the dream. (I'm also not the biggest fan of the movie, though.)
