Niamh's review of Two Lives: Gertrude and Alice
Two Lives: Gertrude and Alice by Janet Malcolm
This is a perfect introduction to
Gertude Stein. I've never read anything she's written, and I mainly knew about her in relation to other writers. This little book taught me a great deal about her work and her life, but it also told a very fascinating story about France during WWII. Did you know that the Nazis gave extra rations of food to people who could prove their dog was pedigreed??
