As usual, I jumped right in to this sequel of a book I really liked. I ended up liking this one better after I read it than while I was reading it. I get anxious with marriage tension, so I wasn't as thrilled until it all worked out.

I wonder how someone would enjoy it who had not first read Big Stone Gap. I felt I knew the characters because of Big Stone Gap, but I don't know how filled out they would seem to someone who picked this book up first.

I also kept waiting for some big action in Big Cherry Holler. I'm not sure how I like the title - there were a few past references to Big Cherry Holler, but nothing that happened there during this book. (Perhaps I was asleep while reading that part). It might have been a nice place for Ave Maria and Jack to get things settled at the end.
