Boo Radley is one of my favorite characters in all of fiction. He is mysterious, a shadow against a window shade. But he prowls the woods at night and leaves gifts for children in the hollow of a tree. On one level, this book is a mystery story and the mystery is Boo Radley. But there are other plots as well, reflecting social and racial conditions in the American South.
