This was a fantastic follow-up to McKinlay's first cupcake cozy. Melanie Cooper, along with her friend and business partner Angie DeLaura, are still being plagued by bakery rival Olivia and baking up delicious cupcakes (recipes included!). When Mel's mom goes on her first date in ages and the date doesn't go quite as planned, Mel's sleuthing kicks into high gear. This is such a smoothly written story and once again, the secondary characters are well fleshed out. The addition of senior Marty Zelaznik was inspired. I hope to see more of all of them in the next installment!
