Stop Pretending was a book that looks at a sisters point of veiw on her older sister (whom shes suppose to look up to)when she snaps, and goes crazy. her older sister does not make sesne, hardly remembers people who love her most. It Really paints a picture in your mind with every word that is written; at some level, "stop pretending" could be considered poetry, but to me i just took it as a diary by a 13 year old girl and the struggles she goes thrugh while in this position. The book goes through flash backs of when everything was okay, and shows how cookie (younger sister) trys to preserve those memories by recreating them with her sister, but it never actually works. Cookie is constantly putting a comparison in the lifestyle she lives now with her sister, visiting her in a mental hospitol and the lifestyle she had with her sister before, which she would give anything to go back to. Cookie trys to restore her sisters memories by saying little things but as a result cookie usually leaves the hospitol disapointed. For anyone who has read this book and has experienced somthing simular to cookies experience, it is definetly relatable to. But for anyone who reads this and hasnt experienced this tragedy, you are thankful you wouldnt or havent gone through this experience.
