I love me some Joe Meno. I decided to re-read this one because I loved it so much about 4 years ago that I sped through it in a day. Same thing happened again, I read it in two sittings. Brian Ozwald is secretly in love with his best friend Gretchen. Problem is she's chubby and he's a bit afraid of dating a fat chick. Sounds like he's a jerk but he's not-he's in high school, he's too skinny, has bad hair, zits, and just doesn't fit in. Admitting his feelings for a chubby, smack talking girl who often beats up people won't make his life any easier. Brain however gets over it and pines away for Gretchen. I like everything about this book. It's quirky;mix tapes play an important part of the story, some pages are handwritten song lists, and the language is authentic teen-ager. The characters are hilarious and true,it's a sweet story that will make you remember how hard it was to be in high school.
