I am going to break rule number 1 so I’m sure Tyler Durbin would be upset with me but since I’m just talking about the book maybe it doesn’t matter.

Just finished the book and I’m thinking now that I saw the film when it first came out 1999/2000 and I connected with it (most of the guys my age did) like a 9th grader thinks Catcher in the Rye was written for him or The Lords of Discipline (and maybe I Am Charlotte Simmons is for girls) is written for the Summer after high school graduation.

At the time it made sense because here we were in our 20’s, pretty bright, well educated (though we thought we knew more than we actually did) and looked around at a world where a bunch of dummies/jerks/phonies had more money and more power than we thought we ever would. We seemed stuck in a low paying career and for the first time realized that we weren’t going to be buying BMW’s overnight.
The future was career-wise bleak.

The thought that the system should be torn down and blown up (figuratively of course) made a lot of sense. Now nearly 40 it doesn't hold the same spell on me. I get the feeling Tyler wouldn't like that one bit...
