Rachel's review of The Giant's House: A Romance
The Giant's House: A Romance by Elizabeth McCracken
I guess I picked this up because I was drawn to the idea of a platonic love affair between two very unlikely people...and I wanted to know where it would lead. Also, it's just a unique idea for a story and I always gravitate towards those rather than standard best sellers. I did really enjoy this book...the character development, the unlikely relationship between two people, the tragedy in the ending. I'm guessing this book isn't for everybody because though platonic, the idea of a grown woman falling in love with a boy not yet a teenager may be too disturbing. But for me, it's not disturbing...it's love, not lust that is the topic of this book...two people that don't fit in, trying to find their place in the world and with each other.
