If it wasn't because it started a bit slow and it got a little dull in the middle I would gave given it 5 stars. I'm not sure why Jude decided to make this the second book in the series because it introduces all the families from Lavender Morning, but I enjoyed nonetheless. It had me going through so many different emotions, anger, amusement, sad & just down right outburst of laughter. I enjoyed meeting the founders of Edilean, Virginia, Angus is this big stubborn brute of a man with a great big heart and Edilean is the small spoiled thing of a woman with an ego bigger than the man she loves. They really were perfect for each other, I especially enjoyed the shooting scene. That will have you laughing for days. Overall, it was a great story & I enjoyed very much all the characters involved, especially the references to all the names in the first book & im sure the rest of the series. Must read, Jude never fails me. :)
