Possibly the best Discworld book - this is about a young girl in from the small war-torn country of Borogravia, who pretends to be a man so she can sign up with the army, in order to search for her missing soldier brother. She soon finds that very little is as she expected. This is a compelling and fascinating story, which provides a great angle on religion, war, and gender politics - and yet it's still very funny and a real page-turner.
