Fast fun read. The movie really got the surreal violent FEEL of it. But the big difference is the book has a final chapter which completely changes the story. SPOILER: It ends with Alex deciding to leave his violent life get married, have kids and have the white picket fence life. And it's implied that he'll do it with no consequences. As if... what?.. that he's no different than us? That we are already as violent and hopeless as Alex? It's kind of an amazing ending, though I can understand why Kubrick just drops it since it somehow undercuts Alex as an unchanging force of nature/society.

In America, they even stopped publishing that last chapter for a while, which is ridiculous.
