Friend Of The Devil (Inspector Banks, #17)
by Peter Robinson
by Peter Robinson
There's two murders this time and it will need the best from not only Chief Inspector Banks but also from his friend and subordinate, Detective Inspector Annie Cabot. One of the murders has a surprising connection to an old case - a case involving the horrific torture and murder of six young women. The beauty of this series of books by Peter Robinson is how human and vulnerable the police are. They are not machines who run around and solve crimes. They are faulty and confused human beings with personal problems who manage to fight through the worst of what they're going through to try and solve the crimes. Just as in real life, Banks and Cabot are not perfect. They have issues that often get in the way of what they are supposed to do. All of the 'Inspector Banks' series of books have intricate crimes that need solving - and you find yourself not just reading about the cases but working with the clues at hand and coming up with your own suspects.
