This is a great book. It's kind of a combination of The Hunger Games and Hatchet: a sci-fi action/survival story. After the Bust and the Urban Trash Wars, the Department of Entertainment takes over education, making Edu-tv the educational system for everyone except the very rich. To up the ratings on their shows, the next Historical Survivor season will feature teenagers: five fourteen-year-olds. They will have to recreate Robert F. Scott's disastrous race to the South Pole. But these teens will not only have to deal with the dangers of deep ice crevasses, frostbite, blizzards, and hungry animals, but also the pre-planned calamitites constructed by the Secreatary of Entertainment, for historical accuracy and higher ratings.
