First of all, because I was re-reading this book, I read the Easton Press forward that explained a lot about Huck Finn, the times, and a lot about Mark Twain himself. It was really interesting and put the book in an interesting context before reading. There was even information on the illustrator of the book, which I had never really considered such an art before, but truly, the illustrator studied the book and the times and studied the original illustrations of the book. It was all very interesting.
Now, the book itself was a great book. I only gave it 4 stars for the fact that it is a difficult read because of the dialect. I found it easier to read this book if I read for an hour or two, the 'mars Tom (Master Tom) and all the local humor was easier to understand if I'd gotten into it, but just picking up the book for 10 minutes at a time was rather difficult.
One of the interesting things about reading this book was that now I'm a mother and I was worried sick about Huck...more
