Re-reading this has been wonderful. My three-year-old really is loving the story, aided by the pictures I think. I am really appreciating that this story is told so completely from 5 year old Laura's eyes, and yet has so much to interest the adult reader. My ability to understand the impact of the details shared about their life is far greater than it was as a child, but both of us generations are enjoying the vitality and adventure in the tales.

Angela You inspired me to check this out for Cameron. He loves it- of course, he's into the action adventure of the bears and panthers, but it's fun to talk about how different it was to be a child in that time and place. The descriptions of Laura's life are simple and lovely. I'm enjoying it as much as my son the second time around.

Megan We are reading Farmer Boy now. It doesn't resonate quite as well with me, but we are enjoying it and Madeleine is still into the book. I wonder, as well, if it wouldn't resonate a little better with young boys because it is about a boy....
