Usually Richard Peck + Paranormal = A Good Book, but I was a little disappointed in this one. On the plus side, it was easy to get into and kept me turning the pages wondering what was going to happen. The plot is wafer-thin, but for someone who just wants a creepy little ghost story it delivers the goods. My biggest problem was with the characterization; all of the characters felt very shallow and one-dimensional and under-developed, even the narrator. I suppose it's a compliment, in a backhanded way, that I liked this story enough that I wish we had been given a deeper plot and more character development (more time just getting to know some of these characters in the first place would have been nice).
