I admit that I didn't read this book in its entirety...A lot of the information about the cruelty, ethics, and politics of the factory farm industry was not new to me, so I skimmed through most of that. However, seeing as how Peter Singer is at the forefront of the animal rights movement, and how he tends to write in a way that's compelling and logical to those who are skeptical about crazy vegetarians/vegans, I still recommend it. He gives tons of facts, but he also brings in the human element by following the eating habits of three American families throughout the book, and he seems to do it in a way that is not patronizing or pretentious. This is another good primer to anyone who wants more information about the seedy underbelly of the food industry, or even for an old-timer like me who needs a fresh reminder about why I choose to eat the way I do.
