I just could not relate with the main character who was kind of a loser who becomes obsessed with finding out about an ex-girlfriend who never really liked him. His "whatever happened to her" thoughts take over his mind and he decides to live in a hotel where they once stayed in order to track her down. So if they weren't that great together, why does he change his whole life in order to find her? I don't get it.
The hotel is very surreal. It's as if he's living in a dream that is bordering on a nightmare.
He has odd dreams about a "Sheep Man" whom he meets in the hotel's elevator. Just weird. He obsesses about this too.
He meets a 13 year old girl and spends way too much time hanging out with her. He says inappropriate things to her and wonders if he's perverted. I'd say yes.
In all, this book was just way too weird for me. I tortured myself in order to finish it.
