For a short while, I was on a kick reading books about rock stars and porn stars until I understood without a doubt that the stories are all pretty much the same. Kiedis' dad was a complete moron, forcing Kiedis into a sexual lifestyle way too early. Partying & drugs were a part of his childhood, which explains his drug use. The cyclical aspect of drugs-rehab-drugs-rehab and Kiedis dumping on friends only to find that (surprise!) they then dump on him gets old. As it should. That's why the drug lifetsyle sucks. It's a circle of crap. What disappointed me was the superficiality of it. Where's the soul-searching? Do drugs keep people just skimming the surface of life, without ever allowing them to dive in and deal with their issues? Is that the "purpose" of drugs - to keep people from being truly aware of their lives and the impact they have on others?
