Marta's review of Enna Burning
Enna Burning by Shannon Hale
Shannon Hale was a recent golden find (despite the fact that several of her books have been published over the years) for myself. The language is beautiful and poetic, the characters believable and the plots extended. These is exactly the stories I seek, because they contain quiet, pensieve and poetic story-telling. Hale's characters, sub-plots and language that make this book, and hence the series (Books of Bayern), worthy.
The novels would sound much like any young-adult fantasy fiction published nowadays, however it's Hale's introductions of language (animal-speaking, people-speaking, nature-speaking) that make the story unique. I feel the same way about lyrical story-telling!I have recently happened upon an author named Marisa De Los Santos. She is a poet who recently (I think) wrote two adult fiction books.
Because of her poetic background her books are wonderful, lyrical, poetic... everything!
I would recommend you giving them a try.
The books are:
1. Love Walked In
followed by a continuation in:
2. Belong to Me
I loved her books and hope she writes more. It might be worth a try!
