C.k.'s review of The Road
The Road by Cormac McCarthy
I read this yesterday while traveling. Read it in one day. Quick book. Very dark and a new area for McCarthy, exploring a post-apocalyptic future. Reminds me most of Outer Dark in tone. It seemed a bit malformed though. The ending seems a bit forced and stuck somewhere between the bleak regular ending of a narrative focused on reality (ie what would really happen in this scenario) and the magical open ended ending of some other type of narrative.
