Brigid's review of Breakfast at Tiffany's: A Short Novel and Three Stories
Breakfast at Tiffany's: A Short Novel and Three Stories (Modern Library) by Truman Capote
** spoiler alert **
** spoiler alert ** I saw the movie and couldn't understand the appeal. Then my cousins (three of them, each independently) told me to read the book. So I did. I still don't see the appeal.
*spoiler alert starts here*
Holly Golightly is a liar, a thief and a whore. She may or may not be a willing conspirator in a crime. I don't understand why anyone would like this woman and why any of the men in the book are so taken with her.
The copy of the book I read said that Truman Capote was the best writer of his generation (or the century, or something like that). If that's true, then that sucks for his generation
