Wow, what a great book! I read it in one day. Its a quick read and I couldn't put it down. I absolutely bawled throughout the last part of it. The sparse language and landscape of this world that Lowry has created somehow manages to draw a great deal of emotional response from the reader (at least it did from THIS reader!). Completely raw. I look forward to reading more in this series.

I had thought there was a sequel, so I am really glad to hear it! Even if the book didn't have a sequel-- if it was just left as it is-- it would be an amazing read. There is something about that last scene, with Jonas and Gabriel on the sled finally finding "Elsewhere", that was just so beautiful and moving. But of course I am dying to find out what happens to them and where the story goes from there! I'll let you know how I like the sequel once I figure out what its called. :)
