** spoiler alert ** I really liked the overall narrative and plot here (definitely more in the 4-5 range) but what lowered my score was the main character. Her finding didn't seem to be as relevant as I thought it would be, and her homophobia was both grating and completely irrelevant to the overall story. I kept expecting her to learn some sort of significant life lesson, but that didn't really seem to happen either--there were hints that she might have changed at least a little bit, but I felt like the events of the book just didn't have as much of an effect on her as I would have expected.
