Virgin River (Virgin River, #1)

There is nothing particularly wrong with this book (although I thought the storyline that included sex between a 16 and a 14 year old was borderline offensive and really icked me out). The story itself is fine, I liked it. There just wasn't anything particularly great about the book, nothing that would make me keep reading, make me sigh or choose to come back for more.
Because the premise is promising, however, I will try the next in the series.

Welcome to Virgin River Tammy. I love this series. The first 3-4 books imo are the best, but they are incredibly addictive.

I've seen so many people reading this! Then another friend of mine here on Goodreads asked me about it so I decided I better get on the bandwagon and read! Are they romances or just chic-lit?

But you'll be able to judge for yourself when you read the series. I doubt you'll be able to stop after just the first book.
Now the dilemma, should I order just the first or give in and buy a few at a time to save the headache ;D

Dontcha hate trying to decide?? I'm not as courageous as Jill -- I would order the first one, then if I liked it order the next 3 or so. How many are there?

Trust me Tammy it's not courage that has me going back to Virgin River. This series is seriously addictive! It's like visiting friends and catching up on the latest in the town, with a delicious helping of romance thrown in.
Robyn Carr has just published no.14 in the series due out in March.
I've heard that about them, Jill - a couple of friends here on GR are plowing their way thru them and I've been reading their reviews.14 books?!?! It's like a kinder, gentler version of J.D. Robb's "In Death" series. :)

Exactly, Tammy. Except each new book has a new romance, whereas Eve and Roarke (yum), star in each 'In Death' novel.
Ok Tam, would you STOP playing around with Bill and land somewhere on him so I know who I'm talking to here?!?!? ;D
Hahahaha!! Well, a funny thing happened on Zosia's review of "Anytime, Darlin'"....http://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
(don't bother with the review, for now -- just the commments)

First, what is ROFLMFAO (I'm to tired to try and decipher it by myself!) I can't believe it, that thread took me 10 minutes to read, it was so long! (I had to post btw - couldn't be left out ;)
It's 'roll on the floor laughing my f'ing ass off', which is another way for me to say "bwah-hah-hah-hah!!!!!"It was a complete waste of time (and Zosia's thread) but I loved seeing the pictures of Tom Selleck!! And whaddaya mean he lives down the road! Do you ever see him? Do tell!
He honestly does. He owns a horse ranch about a half hour from us. I don't see him around but Duane has, as have many of our friends who work or do business around here.
Kay! Hey, I just found the whole Virgin River series at the library - Woo Hoo! Looks like I'ma be reading!
Good job!! This way if you don't like them, you're not out anything, and if you REALLY like them, you can still buy them to re-read.
oh heck. you guys need something to do! well, tammy, since you beat me to it, what's the cleanreads rating on this one? i've actually got it on hold at the library, but if there's not enough clothing in the plot line, i'll probably cancel. rahaha

LOL!
Hmmm, that's a hard one. There is nothing graphic but a lot of sex as a subject. The H has it on a casual basis (sex friends) with a women, then a lot with the h. There is also a secondary story with a 16 year old boy who likes and is having sex with a 14 year old girl (I found that just offensive). A lot of why I wasn't thrilled with the book is because I wasn't comfortable with any of that.
yep. that pretty much does it for me. thanks!*trots over to the to-read shelf, and dumps that one in the not-for-me bin.*
