I really enjoyed this book and was touched by the family story and the style it was told in. Cannot say much more - books such as these either bore you to tears or tend to be amazing (Lark and Termite comes to mind). It is as straightforward as life itself and talk about a "modern" woman's lot and displacement. Women are at the heart of the story, framed by a few men who serve as milestones and "agitators" at unexpected points in these women's lives. This book is definitely on the "amazing" side of family stories - no wonder it's been No. 1 in Germany forever. I hope it gets its deserving translation into English, and more readers can share in the magic...
