MEH!!! I don't know if I can really review this book, I may have to reread it (if I can) I could not get in to it at all. Maybe I read it too sporaticly and it never melded for me, I don't know. All I can say at this time is that it was not so great. Nothing seemed to make sense, everything he did seemed so disconnected from the next thing. Then at the end I didn't feel like anything got tied up. I know Mr. Maguire left it WIDE open for another book, but I think somethings should have been cleared up. Like who Candle really was.. I was waiting for some big reveal. How did she actually get pregnant? When did Liir become gay? What did Princess She-elephant have to do with the story at all? Did I miss parts of the book that uncovered these things?
I was so not impressed with Liir, he was boring, and not engaging at all. I would rather the book been about Candle's life and struggles than Liir's.
Like I said, maybe I read this book at the wrong time, at the wrong speed with too...more
