Unlike most people, I preferred Franzen's later book "Freedom" to this one. Still, it's another fascinating look at dysfunctional families and well worth reading.

Judith That 's very interesting that you prefer "Freedom". I wonder if it has anything to do with the order in which you read them, and your expectations. I really liked "The Corrections" a lot, and I think now maybe I was expecting too much from "Freedom" because I didn't care for it at all.
