** spoiler alert ** I'm surprised at all the negative comments on here. I'll admit, this book took a while to get into, but once I figured out what was going on, my mind was absolutely blown. Three girls with mysterious destinies are brought together, knowing only that they shouldn't trust one another, and they have to basically save the world. But it's deeper than that. The girls are in the dreamland of another young girl, who is very, very sick and on the point of death. The story of the girls she invents helps her pass the time, since the one person she wants to visit her hasn't shown up for quite some time.

Her narrative gives her hope, and ultimately, the three healthy girls fighting with one another for their kingdom turns into a fight for her life. Beautiful story, regardless of the age of the author.
